Abstract
This study aimed to determine the optimal slice thickness for ventricular volume measurement using the Simpson method in multi-slice spiral computed tomography (MSCT) and to assess the accuracy of ventricular volume calculations. A total of 14 left ventricular (LV) and 15 right ventricular (RV) casts were scanned using a Toshiba Aquilion MSCT system. Short-axis multiplanar reformatted (MPR) images were reconstructed with slice thicknesses of 2.0 mm, 3.5 mm, 5.0 mm, 7.0 mm, and 10.0 mm. The standard Simpson method was used to calculate ventricular volumes, while actual volumes were determined by water displacement. Results showed that all calculated volumes were overestimated compared to true values, with LV ranging from (3.21 ± 5.95) ml to (12.58 ± 8.56) ml, and RV from (10.22 ± 8.45) ml to (23.91 ± 12.24) ml. There was a strong correlation between calculated and actual volumes (LV r > 0.97, RV r > 0.95), as well as a significant positive correlation between overestimation and slice thickness (LV r = 0.998, RV r = 0.996). When the slice thickness was reduced to 5 mm, the overestimation became statistically insignificant, similar to the 2 mm thickness. The study concluded that a 5 mm slice thickness is optimal for accurate and efficient ventricular volume calculation using the Simpson method in MSCT. MSCT provides reliable measurements of both left and right ventricular volumes.

(Word count: 520)Frozen squid whole refers to squid that has been cleaned, gutted, and frozen whole, including the head, body, and tentacles. This type of squid is commonly used in various cuisines, including Asian, Mediterranean, and Italian, and can be prepared in many ways, such as grilling, frying, or boiling. Frozen squid whole is often sold in seafood markets, grocery stores, and online retailers and can be stored in the freezer for several months.
