Four Ways of Witnessing Flower and Plant Diseases and Insect Pests

Using pesticides to manage flower and tree diseases and insect pests can be harmful to the environment. To reduce chemical use, here are four natural and effective methods for preventing and controlling plant pests and diseases. First, the spraying method. (a) Mix 0.5 kg of wood ash with 2.5 liters of water and let it soak for 24 hours. Strain the mixture and spray it on flowers and trees to effectively eliminate aphids on plum, rose, and pomegranate trees. (b) Spraying a 0.1% baking soda solution on plants like roses, chrysanthemums, impatiens, hibiscus, and cineraria can help prevent powdery mildew, achieving an 80% control rate. (c) Apply a 20% urea solution every 10 days, or up to three times, to kill pests such as locusts and red spider mites. It also helps make leaves shinier and flowers larger and more vibrant. Second, the rubbing method. (a) Soak a cotton ball in vinegar and gently rub it on camellia plants to remove scale insects and restore damaged leaves to a healthy green color. (b) Lightly brush orchid leaves with alcohol repeatedly to remove scale insects. (c) If a bonsai branch is rotting, carefully scrape off the affected part using a sterilized blade, then apply iodine to the wound. Repeat this process for 7 to 40 days to prevent further rotting. Third, the fertilization method. (a) Mixing a small amount of silicon fertilizer into regular plant fertilizer can strengthen the epidermal cells of flowers, improving their resistance to pests. (b) Regular application of wood ash can significantly reduce the occurrence of gray mold in peonies, tulips, and cyclamen, while also making flowers more vibrant and lush. Fourth, the injection method. Woody plants are often attacked by stem borers such as longhorn beetles, giardworms, and wood-boring moths. In severe cases, the branches may become hollowed out. To combat these pests, inject 20-30 ml of a 20% aqueous ammonia solution into the wormholes during the larval hatching period, early adult emergence, or when larvae are overwintering. After injection, seal the holes with clay or wax to prevent re-infestation. By using these natural techniques, you can protect your garden without harming the environment. These methods not only help control pests and diseases but also promote healthier, more beautiful plants.
