Poultry hatching technique points

Quail egg transportation technology is a modern hatching method that involves moving embryos at a specific developmental stage to a hatchery for further incubation. This approach significantly reduces the costs and risks associated with transporting newly hatched chicks, as it minimizes physical stress and potential injuries during long-distance travel. Transporting eggs instead of chicks is not only safer but also more efficient, making this technique increasingly popular in the poultry industry. Eggs can be transported after 10 days of incubation, but under warmer conditions—such as when temperatures exceed 30°C—quail eggs can be moved as early as day 8. The timing of the transport should be carefully planned based on the journey duration. For example, if the trip will take six days, it’s best to start the process on day 12 so that the eggs hatch upon arrival. If the destination has hatching facilities, you may even begin on day 11. By day 16, the eggs are ready to be placed back into an incubator for final development. However, the sooner the eggs arrive at their destination, the better, as older embryos are generally easier to manage. The management of quail eggs during transit varies greatly depending on the season. In winter and early spring, when temperatures are low, the main focus is on maintaining warmth. Eggs are placed inside bamboo baskets lined with paper paste and covered with grass mats. Each basket holds 2–3 layers of eggs, wrapped in quilts or cotton to provide insulation. On vehicles, baskets are stacked in sheltered areas, wrapped in thick blankets, and protected from rain. It's important to check the temperature every 2–3 hours. If the eggs become too warm, the baskets should be repositioned. Also, if there is a significant temperature difference between the center and the sides of the basket, or between upper and lower layers, the eggs should be rotated regularly to ensure even heating. In summer, when temperatures rise above 30°C, the priority shifts to cooling. Paper lining and thick grass mats should be avoided, and only one or two layers of eggs should be placed in each basket. If the embryos are younger, they can be arranged in half-layers, with two layers surrounding the middle. Baskets should be spread out on vehicles and boats rather than stacked, and direct sunlight and rain must be prevented. Egg temperatures should be monitored frequently, and the number of times baskets are turned should be increased to maintain optimal conditions. During spring and autumn, when temperatures are moderate, the approach falls somewhere between winter and summer practices. Adjustments can be made based on real-time weather conditions to ensure the best possible outcome for the developing embryos.
