Repair procedure for roots of motor vehicle inner valve

Motor vehicle inner tube valves can often cause slow air leaks due to pressure during inflation, especially when the inner tube is removed. The thick glue layer makes it difficult to completely eliminate this issue. Here's an effective repair method that you can try for better results. First, loosen and remove the valve nut, then push the valve stem into the tire. Use a utility knife to carefully cut away the tread around the valve area, exposing the inner tube's surface. Next, cut three canvas patches with diameters of 20 mm, 30 mm, and 50 mm, and one green rubber patch with a diameter of 60 mm. Make sure to punch a hole in the center of each canvas that matches the size of the valve opening. In the second step, apply raw rubber cement on both sides of each canvas, and apply two layers of raw glue around the valve area on the inner tube. Once the glue has dried, place the smallest canvas first, followed by the larger ones, aligning the holes with the valve mouth. Then insert a small ball of paper into the hole of the canvas and cover it with the green rubber patch. Third, heat the rubber using a vulcanization process. Place a sandbag under the inner tube, put an old piston on top, and press it down. Carefully pour about 50 ml of gasoline into the piston—be careful not to let it spill into the inner tube. Light the gasoline and let it burn until it’s dry. Allow the piston to cool, then add another 50 ml of gasoline and ignite again. After cooling, remove the piston. Finally, open a small opening near the valve, remove the paper ball, and reinsert the valve back into its original position. Tighten the valve nut using a pair of cotton gauze pliers to avoid damaging the valve during tightening. This method ensures a more secure and long-lasting repair, reducing the chances of future air leaks. It’s a practical solution that anyone with basic tools can try at home.
