Store the selected citrus fruits in a cool, well-ventilated area for 3 to 5 days. This allows a small amount of moisture to evaporate, which helps improve their storage quality. When preparing the storage container, first place a layer of fresh pine needles, about 1 to 2 cm thick, at the bottom. Make sure the pine needles are free from moisture and do not contain any branches or sticks. Then, arrange a single layer of citrus fruits with their stems facing upward. Cover them with another layer of pine needles, followed by another layer of citrus fruits. Continue this alternating pattern until you reach up to 10 layers, or slightly below the top of the container. Finish by covering the top layer with a layer of pine needles. Store the container in a cool room where the temperature is maintained between 5°C and 12°C. Regular inspections are important to ensure no spoilage occurs. With proper care, the citrus can be stored until March of the following year, and the good fruit rate can exceed 85%. This method not only extends the shelf life but also preserves the freshness and quality of the fruits effectively.
