Pigs and chickens show a strong interest in coal ash, often searching for it and consuming it. But why does this happen? It also includes trace elements like copper, zinc, and manganese. Although pigs don’t require large amounts of these nutrients, their absence can affect normal physiological functions, growth, and reproduction.
Studies have shown that when pigs are fed an appropriate amount of coal ash, they do not experience any negative side effects. In fact, the results have been quite positive. This practice is not only safe but also beneficial.
The method of using coal ash is simple: take fully burned ash, grind it into fine powder, and mix it into the feed. For pigs, the recommended percentage is about 3%, while for chickens, it’s around 5%.
