I sometimes find myself in a mix of emotions—half panicking and half reveling in the fact that I can now ask Chris, "Where should we take the kids today?" These past couple of weeks have been incredible as we've transitioned from a family of three to a family of four. Having one child already gave me some idea of what to expect with a newborn, but still, the dynamics feel a bit different. It's been a learning curve to find our new rhythm, and while I'm making progress, it's slow going at times. I'm still recovering physically from Brayden's natural birth, which has been much easier compared to my first delivery with an epidural. Since coming home, I've been juggling so much, including working on a post about Brayden's natural delivery. But with my little snacker constantly reminding me he's a boob man and needing attention almost all the time, multitasking has become a real challenge. Thank you for your patience as I navigate this new phase of life. Posting might be sporadic as I adjust to our evolving family dynamic… and typing one-handed while holding him.

Aliyah has handled the transition beautifully. From the moment she met her baby brother, he became her top priority. She's always eager to spend time with him, whether it's admiring him from a distance or helping out in small ways. Just the other day, Chris was on a call holding Brayden, and Aliyah fetched her step stool to get closer. Each time Chris paused, she'd scoot right up and gaze at her little brother adoringly. Her kindness and thoughtfulness never cease to amaze me, and this experience has deepened my love and appreciation for her. These moments create a harmony within our family—a soft melody of happiness, peace, and smiles.
But then there are the chaotic days. Like last Tuesday, when Aliyah had a long day followed by gymnastics. We were heading home and needed to stop along the way. Usually, Brayden sleeps in the car, but this time, he was hungry. The moment the car stopped, he let us know. Meanwhile, Aliyah was already in a mood because her gymnastics teacher hadn't handed out suckers, and she was trying to watch a movie on her iPhone (which isn't even activated). The combination of Brayden's cries and Aliyah's frustration created a symphony of chaos. After about 30 seconds, Aliyah snapped, "Brayden, please STOP IT!" and started crying herself. Her cries seemed to fuel his, and vice versa. I ended up laughing despite the tension, probably because I couldn't help it. If anyone had walked by the car, they might have thought I was losing it, but I wasn't. I was just overwhelmed in the best possible way.
All of this—the highs, the lows, the laughter, and the tears—is what family life feels like now. It's exhausting, exhilarating, and everything in between. And oh, the crying! Mine, not theirs. Maybe it's the hormones, the lack of sleep, or both, but I shed tears of joy and sadness almost daily. Despite the challenges, I wouldn't trade any of it for the world. Each contour of their faces, each tiny hand or foot, fills me with awe because they change so fast.
