Annual production of three litter breeding technology for sows

The innovative technology developed by the Chongqing Liangping Institute of Science and Technology has successfully achieved an annual output of three litters of piglets. This method effectively addresses several key challenges associated with traditional sex hormones, such as high costs, severe side effects, low success rates, and poor piglet quality. As a result, it is a promising alternative that deserves wider adoption. The process begins with a herbal formulation: 30 grams each of Chinese herbal medicine, woody, hematoxylin, wood pass, trigonous, hornbush, dried tangerine peel, green skin, rehmannia, angelica, and safflower, along with 5 grams of blanching. These ingredients are boiled in water, then mixed with 1.5 kilograms of white wine and left to soak for 10 days. On day 105 of the sow’s gestation, 15 mg of chloroprepronol is injected into the muscle, and the piglets are born on the second day. After birth, special attention must be given to both the sow and the piglets. The sow should be fed more concentrated feed and supplemented with green feed. Each day, 20 ml of the medicinal wine is mixed into the feed and immediately given to the sow. Additionally, four vitamin B and E supplements are administered daily. Vitamin B helps prevent excessive milk production, which can lead to nutritional deficiencies in the sow, while Vitamin E enhances reproductive function, making mating and pregnancy easier. On the 10th day after farrowing, estrus can be induced in breeding sows by separating the piglets to make the process easier. A soft rubber ball is coated with oil and used to gently rub the sow's vagina for 5–10 minutes to stimulate sexual desire. Then, 1 ml of semen is sprayed into the artificial vas deferens and placed in the sow's nasal cavity, using the scent to trigger estrus. Continuing to rub the vaginal area for another 10 minutes helps the sow experience pleasure, stimulating the pituitary gland to release follicular hormones and promote ovulation. An artificial insemination tube is then inserted 15–18 cm into the vagina, and gentle trembling for 5–10 minutes encourages the sow to reach orgasm. At this point, 3–5 ml of semen is introduced, followed by continued shaking for another 5–10 minutes to complete the artificial insemination. The vaginal area is rubbed again for 10 minutes, and the sow is allowed to rest alone for 30 minutes before being reintroduced to the group. Several precautions should be taken throughout the process. The medicinal wine should only be given for 10 days and not after mating. Overfeeding vitamins should be avoided to prevent toxicity. After removing the artificial vas deferens, rubbing the vaginal area should stop gradually, as sudden cessation during an orgasmic reaction may cause discomfort, reduce uterine contractions, and lower the chances of successful fertilization. Pregnant sows require careful management, including regular exercise, minimal stress, and consistent feeding. Their diet should be balanced and nutritionally complete. For piglets, early iron supplementation, early feeding, vaccination, weaning, castration, deworming, and stomach health care are essential, along with straight-line fattening techniques to ensure optimal growth and development.
