Annual production of three litter breeding technology for sows

The innovative technology developed by the Liangping County Institute of Science and Technology in Chongqing has successfully achieved an annual output of three litters of piglets, effectively addressing the longstanding issues associated with traditional sex hormones—such as high costs, severe side effects, low success rates, and poor piglet quality. This breakthrough method is highly promising and worth promoting for widespread application. The treatment involves a herbal formula consisting of 30 grams each of Chinese herbal medicine, woody plant, hematoxylin, wood pass, trigonous, hornbush, dried tangerine peel, green skin, rehmannia, angelica, and safflower, along with 5 grams of blanching. The mixture is boiled with water and then combined with 1.5 kilograms of white wine, left to soak for 10 days. On the 105th day of the sow's pregnancy, 15 mg of chloropreponol is injected intramuscularly. The piglets are born on the second day. After birth, it is crucial to closely monitor both the sow and the piglets, providing them with increased nutrition, including more concentrated feed and supplementary green feed. Each day, 20 ml of the medicinal wine should be mixed into the sow’s daily feed and given immediately. Additionally, four types of vitamin B and E supplements should be administered daily. Vitamin B helps prevent excessive milk production, which can lead to nutritional deficiencies in the sow, while Vitamin E supports reproductive health, enhancing mating and pregnancy success. On the tenth day after farrowing, estrus induction can begin. Breeding mothers are separated from their piglets to facilitate the process. A soft rubber ball, lubricated with oil, is used to manually stimulate the sow’s vagina for 5 to 10 minutes, encouraging sexual desire. Then, 1 ml of semen is sprayed into the artificial vas deferens and placed near the sow’s nostrils, where the scent triggers estrus. Continued vaginal stimulation for another 10 minutes helps the sow experience pleasure, stimulating the pituitary gland to release follicle-stimulating hormones, which promote ovulation. An artificial insemination tube is inserted 15–18 cm into the vagina, gently moved for 5–10 minutes to help the sow reach orgasm. At this point, 3–5 ml of semen is introduced, followed by continued movement for another 5–10 minutes. Afterward, the vaginal area is rubbed for an additional 10 minutes. The sow is then allowed to rest alone for 30 minutes before being reintroduced to the group. Important considerations include: feeding the medicinal wine only for 10 days and avoiding it after mating. Overfeeding vitamins should be avoided to prevent toxicity. After removing the artificial vas deferens, it is essential not to abruptly stop stimulating the vulva, as this may cause discomfort and reduce the chances of successful fertilization. Pregnant sows require proper management, including regular exercise, reduced stress, and consistent feeding schedules. Balanced feed formulation is also critical. For the piglets, early iron supplementation, early weaning, early vaccination, castration, deworming, and straight-line fattening techniques should be implemented to ensure healthy growth and development.
