Nanjing August aquatic product prices slowed down

According to a recent investigation by the National Bureau of Statistics Nanjing Survey Team, although the prices of most aquatic products have been rising month by month with the temperature, the price of aquatic products has stabilized since August 20. The freshwater fish decreased synchronously from the previous month, and the average monthly prices of carp, grass carp, and carp were 12.91 yuan, 12.48 yuan, and 13.04 yuan per kilogram respectively, a decrease of 3.6%, 2.6%, and 2.5% from the previous month. The price of saltwater fish has been rising month by month since May. The current average monthly price of bonito and carp is 21.95 yuan and 62 yuan per kilogram, 1.6%, 0.5% month-on-month, and 48.58 yuan per kilogram for yellow croaker, which is the same as last month.

The reason for the increase in the price of aquatic products in the early period is that summer temperatures are high, and the transport volume of freshwater fish per vehicle can only be about half that of normal time. Ice cubes need to be continuously added to cool down the road, and the time for preservation after the market is shortened, resulting in increased operating costs. These factors led to an increase in the retail price of freshwater fish in Nanjing, which increased by 0.9% and 10.7% respectively year-on-year. Sea fish began to lift the ban period in the South China Sea in early August. The current market supply is still relatively low and the price is high. The octopus, yellow croaker and squid have increased by 30.9%, 12.9% and 45.6% year-on-year.

The reporter learned from the Nanjing Agricultural Product Logistics Center and the Huimin Bridge agricultural and sideline products market that the wholesale price of carp per kilogram was recently around 12.3-12.9 yuan, and the wholesale price of grass carp, carp, and yellow croaker was lower than the survey price of the Bureau of Statistics. The recent price was maintained at each Kg 9.9 yuan-10.3 yuan, the price of calyx is about 10.4 yuan per kilogram, and the price of yellow croaker is recently maintained at 36 yuan per kilogram. Since these agricultural and sideline products markets monitor wholesale prices, the prices are generally slightly lower than the prices of aquatic products surveyed by the statistics department.

The statistics department analyzed that with the opening of the ban on the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea in early September and the inland fishery aquaculture products being listed in succession, the price of aquatic products will fall sharply from the previous period, but due to the increase in labor costs, transportation fees for fuels and market stalls in the aquaculture industry in recent years, the cost has increased. High aquatic prices are inevitable.
