In the first three quarters, the output value of proprietary Chinese medicines exceeded RMB 240 billion and it was 33% higher than the same period of last year

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission issued an analysis of the economic operation of the pharmaceutical industry from January to September this year, showing that the pharmaceutical industry's production and sales continue to maintain steady growth, foreign trade has grown rapidly, and the industry as a whole has continued to show a positive trend. The pharmaceutical industry achieved an output value of 1.1 trillion yuan, an increase of 28% year-on-year. Among them, the Chinese patent medicine manufacturing industry was 243.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33%, which was higher than the chemical medicine manufacturing industry, chemical medicine manufacturing industry, and bio-biochemical medicine manufacturing industry. The pharmaceutical industry's industrial added value increased by an average of 17%.

The overall production and sales rate of the pharmaceutical industry was 95%, an increase of 0.7% over the same period of last year. Compared with the same period of 2010, the sub-sectors' production and sales ratios have risen by a certain margin. Among them, the production of sanitary materials and medical products, the manufacture of proprietary Chinese medicines, and the production of bio-chemical products have increased by a large margin.

The pharmaceutical industry accumulatively completed a fixed asset investment of 196.4 billion yuan, an increase of 40% year-on-year, and an increase of 8.5 percentage points over the previous year's increase. In terms of sub-sectors, the largest year-on-year increase was in the Chinese medicine decoction processing industry, which reached 61%, followed by the Chinese patent medicine manufacturing industry and the manufacture of chemical raw pharmaceuticals, both up by 45% year-on-year.
