Chongqing Tongliang: Malaysian shrimp sold out when it did not enter the market

On October 17th, Jin Yongjun, the owner of the breeding farm in Baiyang Town, Tongliang County, Chongqing City, told us that more than 40 tons of 110-acre Malaysian prawn, which they have farmed this year, have yet to enter the market and are sold out on the farmed ponds.

Malaysian prawns, also known as white-footed shrimp, prawns, shrimp, etc., are known as the king of freshwater prawns. The country of origin is concentrated on the coast of Ecuador and is one of the three largest shrimp species in the world. Its thin shell body fat, fresh meat, delicious, nutritious. In addition to the rich flavor of general freshwater prawn, mature prawn broodstock of M. rosenbergii is full of gonads and has a special and tasty flavor similar to crab yellow. Per 100 grams of shrimp meat, shrimp contains 20.6 grams of protein, 0.7 grams of fat, and contains a variety of vitamins and trace elements necessary for the human body, is a high-protein nutritional aquatic products, has won people's love.

Baiyang Town, Tongliang County, Chongqing City is a pure agricultural town with rich forest vegetation, excellent water quality, no industrial “three wastes” pollution, and good conditions for the development of high-quality special aquatic products. At the end of 2007, Baiyang Town, Tongliang County, Chongqing City made efforts to introduce Zhejiang owner Jin Yongjun to invest in a special aquaculture farm in Baiyang Town.

Zhejiang owner Jin Yongjun built 110 mu of freshwater breeding base in the town of Baiyang, including hatchery pools, aquaculture ponds, and production management facilities, and other supporting facilities, which mainly feed Malaysian prawn special aquatic products. The cultivation was successful in that year and began to be listed in bulk. The mu yield reached 400 kilograms. In Chongqing, there are more than 10 supermarkets and hotels such as Wal-Mart and New Century that require supply. The price of 52 yuan/kg is still in short supply.

With such a good market, there are such good benefits. Why are the local people not breeding? Wang Zhenzhong, mayor of Baiyang Town, Tongliang County, Chongqing City, gave us an analysis that the main reason is that Tongliang did not form a breeding climate. In the Tongliang did not cultivate shrimp, farmers must breed, you must purchase shrimp in Zhejiang and along the coast. Second, in Tongliang and nearby counties and counties, there is no feed for the production of farmed shrimp, and the purchase cost in other provinces is higher. Third, many farmers do not have experience in shrimp farming. The growth stage of Malaysian prawn larvae must live in brackish water with a certain degree of salinity, and if it dies in pure fresh water, it will soon die. The prawns of Malaysian prawn prefer to live in clusters, and are often densely concentrated in the upper layers of water, especially in the early stage of larvae. They have phototaxis, but they also avoid direct light. Macrobrachium rosenbergii is extremely sensitive to water temperature and dissolved oxygen. Its survival water temperature is 15 ~ 35 °C, suitable water temperature for growth is 25 ~ 30 °C. When the water temperature dropped to 18°C, the activity weakened; at 16 to 17°C, it was slow to respond; at 14°C, it continued to freeze for a certain period of time. Macrobrachium rosenbergii has a habit of swimming and crawling towards the new water cluster. When the dissolved oxygen in the water is too low, the cluster often climbs on the shore, and is unresponsive and severely dead. It is difficult for these people to grasp. At present, Tongliang County does not have professional shrimp technicians to guide the shrimp farming technology. 

Jin Yongjun, owner of the breeding farm in Baiyang Town, Tongliang County, Chongqing City, told us that at present, they have built more than 100 acres of shrimp ponds and 100 acres of crab ponds in Baiyang Town, Tongliang County. This year we plan to expand the area of shrimp farming and crab cultivation and strive to reach 1,000 acres. Wang Qizhong, mayor of Baiyang Town, Tongliang County, Chongqing City, told us that they rely on Zhejiang owners to organize farmers to learn technology from him and guide local farmers to develop aquaculture. They are actively planning Aries' characteristic aquaculture base, not only breeding shrimps and crabs, but also breeding aquaculture. The fish, so that the mainland people do not go to the coast, they can eat fresh shrimp and crabs, so that the people increase their income.
