Rice planthoppers occur in southern Hunan, Huaihua in western Hunan, and Shaoyang in central Hunan. Moderate to heavy emphasis occurs in other areas. The sharpening of sheath blight is rapid and vertical. The panicle-necked crickets weigh heavily on the susceptible cultivars of Huaihua in southern Hunan, central Hunan, and western Hunan. The second generation of S. indica larvae hatch from the late June to early July, mainly affecting mid-season and late-season rice.
